Such an excellent experience! I'm a novice at woodworking and Ken was so helpful and patient with all my questions. He helped me find a beautiful live edge slab and the price was an absolute bargain.Based on my experience, I highly recommend for speciality wood needs.
Was recommended to me by another lumberyard because I was looking for something very specific and I spent 20 minutes on the phone with an older gentleman who I’m assuming was the owner As he walked around the place looking for something that would fit what I needed. Ended up giving him my phone number and he texted me photos of some thing that would fit the wood that I was looking for.Highly recommend! Great prices, good variety, friendly people. We love a business that is family owned, and has been around for a long time. I drove An hour to come pick this up, but will be back next time I need lumber for a project!
Having been in the trades for well over two decades now, we all know that finding genuinely kind hearted and good people in this industry is like finding a needle in a haystack. Well, not here with the folks at Farnsworth. This a family operation that you can tell from the start that they care about what they do and care about your needs as well.My team and we’re working on a very complex custom project, that involved a very large deck build, over 10 doors, 10+ stone wrapped columns, walkways, over 300 feet of 6” gutters and some other miscellaneous items. However, the Crown Jewel of this project is a red cedar timber pergola, that we had the lumber milled just for the project. The lumber itself was well over 25k and we waited 8 weeks for it. Sadly, at the time we ordered the lumber, we didn’t know the folks at farnsworth yet and ordered from a big bucks lumber yard. The material we got was really good prime lumber and all bit it was way too heavy and it needed to be milled down a bit to be workable. (8”x10”x16’ & 8x8x10) My team could barely lift these things of the ground, let alone build a pergola from it. So the search for a place that could mill this Dow began. Thank the Lord for Google bc from all my contacts, I couldn’t find anyone to do the job, but I did find Farnsworth through Google and to make this short, these guys made this happen, even though they were very busy and they made it gape on fast and for a fair price. There’s nothing that I could put on here that could express my full gratitude for these guys.
I've been traveling all over New England to find quality hardwood in large sizes. The current project involves 8 quarter x 10" Sapele for new door jambs and we were lucky to find it close to us! This place has tons of different slabs, some with live edges, all rough sawn. They'll plane and size it for you as you wait, as long as they aren't seriously backed up!Reasonable pricing on cherry, oak, and maple. It is a place like we used to shop at!Wonderful service
I called this morning to ask about availability of 8/4 pine, rough sawn, 10 inches wide to make a chair seat and when I arrived 40 minutes later I was given a beautiful 10 foot plank from which I can make several of the chair seats. The price was much less than I expected! The staff were very helpful and friendly. I could not have had a better experience and I will be a repeat customer. What a resource for many kinds of lumber, including many woods that a hand- made furniture maker would love to use!
